Reflection Journal QCC Trip

On March 20th 2013 I went on a trip with my class to Queens Borough Community College
(QCC). Once we got to QCC we met up with some professors who showed us around the campus showing us multiple classrooms and what they teach at QCC that will be related the different classes we are taking in ITHS. We saw classrooms that taught architecture, classes that taught robotics, classes that showed programing, and classes that taught making and designing tools by using a computer.

In QCC we met professors and even some students, we got a first hand look at the way classes are taught, the classroom sizes, the way the teachers act and teach. Now looking at it I think it was important to visit the campus because it has a big effect on the way I will look at this college. I learned the basics of robotics, I learned that theres a machine that can make tools, I learned multiple classes that are available at QCC.

Before this class trip I hadn't visited any colleges I guess I didn't really think it would make much of a difference, that I didn't really need it, now after visiting QCC I think I will now visit multiple colleges before my senior year. I realized its important to look at colleges and to really get a feel for the school you will be staying at for the next four or two years depending on where you go.

Honestly I didn't really now what I was going to take from this trip I just knew that there was a trip and I had to go  to it. Honestly I didn't really get anything from the classes because I don't want any of those things as a major or minor, but I did get a feel at what college is about and it did make me open up my eyes and notice that its a must to look at the colleges before you decide which one you want to go to. The trip was pretty boring, don't get me wrong they did tell us stuff that interested us but there was no attention grabber, there was nothing that kept me awake the whole time, even my mom was falling asleep. Something that would make it better is if they wouldn't just babble about the same thing for a long time, people get bored like that. Next college trip I would like to see more campus, not take so long in one class and more energetic, attention grabbing attitude from the people showing us around.

Why is it important to have a CTE expo?

I think it was showing off our work in the CTE expo. It was fun telling and talking to them about the ideas behind it and all the work put into it. It was fun being a teacher and not a student for once. People actually enjoyed it and had fun seeing all the things we have created and they asked a lot of questions, I think they were amazed about how we could actually do something like a working website. I would say that it met my expectations because it was fun and we got good reactions out of it. Teachers actually came up to me and told me that they were surprised about how good it went and how amazing it turned out.

Something I would do differently.... I actually don't think anything turned out necessarily bad, i mean theres always room for improvement but I think it came out pretty swell. If anything maybe talking more, but I honestly think I do enough of that already. What i might like to see happen in a CTE expo is for more people to come and just for everyone to enjoy themselves. I think that if we would have had snacks out that then it would truly be perfect. I wish I had a CTE expo my freshmen year. I think that the CTE expo will have a large effect on which academies the freshmen this year choose.

lab10!!! image rollover dreamweaver!!

 image1

 image2 image3
dreamweaver is a simpler way to make websites. you can make your website by using tags or by making it like an actual document making it extremely fast and simple. we were able to do image rollover the way we did this was we went in dreamweaver saved the html document then we started. we pressed insert then image objects then we clicked rollover and then a box appeared  as you see in image 3 after you fill that out you could press live view and the first way it looks is image one then after you roll your mouse over it you will see your second image as seen in image2. after that you can add text or whatever else you want and then you are done!!!!!!!!!

project number 2 wireframe prototype angelica pina

for my project i choose mickey. i created a prototype of how the actual website would look in order to save time. this is something that is necessary because it is less time consuming and less clostley. The first thing i did was the i did an outline of all the pages with pencil and paper. then i scanned it on  my computer to start coloring. i colored it into photoshop then exported it to fireworks so i could put in my text. after i put in my text all that was left was that i needed to make it clickable. i made them clickable by clicking the hotspot link and told it where i wanted it to go and then i was done.

Aftermath of Storm Sandy

Devastating.

when i first heard about the storm i thought everyone was over reacting especially my mom. she made us stack up on food water gas and everything else you could possibly think of. she made us charge our electronics before the storm she was preparing for something big.
after the storm hit my neighborhood wasn't effected at all, everything looked normal however when i turned on the news i saw all the effects of the storm. words cant describe how bad i feel for the victims and all we can do now is pray and help out by donating clothes and food and helping out people that need it. people lost there homes and some even there lives.
i guess it was better to over react then under react.
i think we should all help out because it could of easily been any of us in that situation. my own aunt that lives in long island had to come all the way to corona to charge there electronics and take showers.
i never realized how valuable public transportation is, without either its almost impossible to travel between the five boroughs.
the gas i think has hit me the most my dad needs gas in order to work and its close to impossible to get gas at the moment.
if i was in that situation where i got badly effected i believe the best way people could help me is by showing that there for me and giving me necessitates.
im just grateful no one in my family got badly effected, that i have running water, heat, electricity, food, my parents still have jobs and that everyone i know is safe and sound. things will slowly get back to normal.
